  • Disable On-Demand Synchronization for Windows Desktop Client

    When to Disable On-Demand Synchronization

We recommend to use on-demand synchronization which is the most flexible solution. In addition, this is what most users would expect.

This feature allows users to seamlessly access all their files and prevents excessive disk space usage by only downloading the specific files the user is interested in.

In case of issues with the reliability of the desktop client, it may be a good idea to disable this feature. That would be best done after being requested or suggested by Nextcloud support.

    Steps to Disable On-Demand Synchronization

    1. Open the settings dialog

    Open the Settings Dialog

    1. For each synchronization folder (example with a single one), disable on-demand synchronization

    1. Wait until all files from the user have been downloaded.

WARNING This may consume a lot of disk storage. Advise users to eventually disable some big folders after on-demand synchronisation has been disabled
