Can we migrate an S3 bucket that is mounted via external storage?¶

• Naively changing the external storage config in the Admin UI to point to the new bucket will create a completely new external storage, with all the shares (both internal and external) of files within the storage being lost.
• Switching to a different bucket without losing all this data is currently not supported.
• There is an unsupported, experimental tool available that may be able to pull this off: https://github.com/icewind1991/files_external_migrate Note that even with this tool the operation is still risky and proper backups should be in place before attempting a migration.
